Mike Bishop has conceded to Democrat Elissa Slotkin for Michigan's 8th Congressional District seat.

Rep. Bishop was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2014 and was re-elected in 2016. He called Slotkin early Wednesday morning to concede the race.

One of the issues that Slotkin talked about while running against Bishop, was being in favor of stopping Line 5. She said, "I'm in support of shutting down line 5 now. Immediately. It's proven that it's too old. It's got major vulnerabilities, it had to be shut down when the waves were too high, and I personally don't believe that we need a tunnel to replace it."

Slotkin is a former National Defense Official who now lives in Holly.
