Mike Bishop honored to represent Republicans in Michigan

“I am honored by the support of my fellow Michiganders. I look forward to discussing my record of helping families earn higher wages, protecting children, safeguarding the Great Lakes, and working to find common sense solutions to the challenges Michigan families face every day," said Congressman Mike Bishop after his victory in the primary election on Tuesday night.

A Republican Congressman, told Fox 47 News he's concerned about how tariffs are affecting Michigan -- and he's taken those concerns to the White House. Mike Bishop recently campaigned in Lansing to award a Purple Heart and eight other medals to Vietnam Veteran Stephen Koenig. Koenig never received his medals after coming home. After the ceremony we asked the Congressman about the tariffs.

"We're from Michigan. We understand that Michigan auto manufacturers and manufacturers in general are struggling with the tariff situation. But we're also worried about tariffs for our farmers. This is a big deal for them and we want to make sure that we provide any assistance that we can to get them over this bump in the road.", Bishop says.

Congressman Bishop ran against Lokesh Kumar in the Republican primary. Elissa Slotkin won for the democratic primary. Libertarian candidate Brian Ellison will also be on the November ballot.
