Heinz issues gravy recall as Thanksgiving looms

Some of the jars are mislabeled
Posted

A labeling error has led to the recall of 500 cases of Heinz HomeStyle Bistro Au Jus Gravy.

The jars were accidentally labeled as Heinz Pork Gravy, which does not show that the product contains milk and soy, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration

The labeling error could lead to the inadvertent consumption of milk or soy and cause health problems for those who are allergic to either substance.

So far, there are no reports of illnesses caused by the error.

Those who purchased the problematic jars should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-866-572-3808 Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern, for a full refund, according to the FDA.
