The first week of school can hold a lot of firsts for students and parents alike, including the first time parent’s drop-off and pickup their children at school.

There are few things parents need to know to make the line move smoothly:

  1. Do not try to speed through the line.
  2. Don’t cut people waiting in line.
  3. Always keep pulling forward.
  4. Do not hold up the line by getting out of your car and talking to your child.

Stg. Baron Brown with the Ferndale Police Department says they have had to respond to pickup lines in the past.

He says the main thing is to have patience and remember your child is watching you.

“I have a little kid, a six yer old almost, so I know all too well how important it is to watch what you say and what how you say it,” said Stg. Brown.
