LANSING, Mich. — The 2020 United States Senate election in Michigan will be held on November 3, 2020, to elect a member of the United States Senate to represent the State of Michigan, concurrently with the 2020 U.S. presidential election, as well as other elections to the United States Senate in other states and elections to the United States House of Representatives and various state and local elections.

John Edward James is an American businessman and combat veteran, and was the Republican nominee for United States Senate for Michigan in 2018.
James was born in Detroit, Michigan. At age 17, James enrolled in the United States Military Academy and after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 2004, he served for eight years in the United States Army. After he was discharged, James started work on his family business and received master's degrees at Penn State and the University of Michigan.
