Pure Michigan and Short's Brewing Company have partnered up on a new IPA to help inspire fall travel in the state.

The "Michigan Autumn IPA" is 100 percent brewed with Michigan-grown and harvested ingredients, and the announcement was made on the first official day of fall.

To make the beer, Short's used brewed ingredients from three local maltsters – Great Lkaes Malting Company, Valley View arm and Empire Malting Co. for the beer. They also used two local hop suppliers – MI Local Hops and Michigan Hop Alliance – and Craft Cultures yeast supplier in the Upper Peninsula.

Short's said that the IPA is appealing to craft and non-craft beer drinkers alike, well-balanced with smooth hop flavors and fruity esters, a blend of pine, citrus and honey-like malt sweetness.

The Autumn IPA will be available at Short's Pub in Bellaire on Oct. 4 and Oct. 5, and then be featured at the Chicago Rare and Wild Beer Fest. Shortly after, it will be distributed throughout Michigan.

It will be available at the Detroit Fall Beer Festival on Oct. 25-26 at Eastern Market, and at an event at Clubhouse BFD on Oct. 29 in Rochester Hills.

The beer will be distributed across several weeks, and can be found at Meijer, Busch's, D&W Fresh Market, VG's Food Center, Kroger Marketplace and many independent retailers and 50 taprooms. A map of where to find the beer can be found at shortsbrewing.com and at Michigan.org .
