The blistering heat of summer is starting to wind down, eventually turning into crisp fall temperatures.

While autumn traditions include cider mills, apple picking and visiting pumpkin patches, they include a backdrop of stunning Michigan trees.

Smokymountains.com released its annual Fall Foliage Prediction Map, showing us when we'll see those beautiful fall colors in Michigan.

If you're planning a trip to the U.P. in the fall, keep in mind that colors will peak during the week of Oct. 5. The Upper Peninsula was named the best destination for fall foliage, so the peak will be particularly full that week.

In most of lower Michigan, including metro Detroit, the peak fall foliage week is Oct. 19.
