Wednesday our sister station WXYZ was joined by Michigan's Superintendent of Public Education Dr. Michael Rice to talk about the first week of school.
Dr. Rice also addressed concerns from parents and teachers that we've been hearing.
While this is the first week for many, some private schools started in-person classes last month. Most other schools here in southeastern Michigan are virtual only. Others are using a hybrid model.
At this point, some schools have reported infections and ordered students into quarantine. This is raising some questions about transparency when it comes to specific outbreaks in schools and districts.
