It is a depot done deal. But what made it happen?
An event last September called the Detroit Homecoming inside the station started the talks.
Matthew Moroun credits Detroit Media Magnate Keith Crain. He and his publisher Mary Kramer convinced the Morouns to open the station to the event of 500 top business people.
“I thank Keith Crain for hosting Homecoming Detroit in the fall of 2017,” Moroun said at a morning news conference.
Keith Crain told 7 Action News, “He (Moroun) turned the train station into a magnificent beautiful icon.”
Matthew Moroun said his family could not develop the train station and it only had a future with someone who would take it all on and Ford fit.
“The Developer had to be the owner and the user," Moroun said. "I would describe the negotiations as respectful and not protracted in anyway.”
“I would have never guessed Ford Motor Company," Crain said. "But I’m delighted Ford saw it. I’m delighted Ford’s interested and they’re going to go ahead with it. It’s an exciting place to be right now."
