7 Action News reporter Syma Chowdhry talked with a stylist in Grosse Pointe Woods about getting scissors back in her hands.

“I’m ecstatic to come back to work," Tracy Davis of Salon Stephon said.

She has been counting the days until June 15.

Tracy, like other hair stylists and barbers, have been out of work since March.

Tracy has worked at Salon Stephon for five years but has been a stylist for 15 years.

“I’ve never had a vacation like this.”

She leases a space at the salon and her clients have been calling her nonstop trying to get an appointment.

Tracy is looking forward to finally getting them in her chair.

“I’m tired of talking to people on the phone.”

But there are new policies in place.

You have to wait outside until your appointment.

Appointments will be spaced out two hours between clients giving Tracy enough time to sanitize the space.

You have to use hand sanitizer when you walk in.

“Keep a mask, stay out of people’s face. Keep your distance.”

Tracy says the biggest challenges will be working on hair that hasn’t been colored or cut in months — or worse — clients who tried to do it on their own.

“I got a lot of work to do. A lot of color touch ups, a lot of cutting. But it will be fun.”
