Spartans fans make the trip to Iowa

Posted

DES MOINES, IA — Plenty of Spartan fans made the trip to the Des Moines for the opening weekend.

Fans traveled to watch their team tip off against Bradley, from Spartan alumni to mutual fans.

"I don't care if my bracket's wrong or if I lose, I hope Michigan State wins it all. I drove to see my friend for the NCAA Tournament. Go green!" said Lynn Pochau.

Michigan State was not the only rooting interest for some fans, with family having played with other teams' players.

"Isaiah Livers from Kalamazoo, we're very proud of him; Xavier Tillman from Grand Rapids, and Aaron Henry from Indianapolis."

Including Nevada's Jordan Caroline.

"He's our cousin. We love him to death. We're rooting for him later on today," said Terri Benton-Ollie.

They're hopeful that the Spartans can make it to Washington D.C., but won't guarantee they'll follow along.

"We'll have a watch party; we do that every year."

The Michigan Wolverines still has to hit the hardwood at around 9:30 p.m.
