After what appears to be a successful visit to the University of Michigan over the weekend, Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson announced he is transferring to U of M.

In a statement Monday afternoon on Twitter, Patterson said, "I am now excited to announce my commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Michigan. It's time to go to work. #GoBlue."

Patterson is one of three Ole Miss players who visited Michigan on Saturday. Safety Deontay Anderson and wide receiver Van Jefferson were on the campus as well.

The three announced their intentions to find another school after a recruiting scandal left the team under sanctions through 2018 that includes a two-year bowl ban.

Patterson threw for 2,259 yards in seven games for the Rebels last season with 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Because of the sanctions, all seniors are able to transfer without having to sit out a year, but other players, including Patterson, will have to petition the NCAA for the right to transfer without sitting out a year.
