The Detroit Lions coaching staff will coach one of the teams in the Reese's Senior Bowl, the league announced on Thursday.
The Lions will join the Cincinnati Bengals coaching staff at the game on Jan. 25 in Mobile, Alabama. The Lions have the third pick in the draft and six picks throughout the entire draft.
According to the game, the teams are prioritized based on NFL draft order with the main caveat being that both teams have a full staff in place, which precludes teams that had coaching turnovers, which is why the Washington Redskins, who have the No. 2 pick, aren't coaching.
Detroit last coached a team with Jim Shwartz in 2013.
“My staff and I welcome the opportunity to coach many of the nation’s best college players at the Senior Bowl later this month. Most of us got our start in coaching at the collegiate level and we look forward to a great week in Mobile. This event has always been well-organized and provides great access that is helpful in our pre-draft evaluations," Lions Head Coach Matt Patricia said in a release.
