Grand Rapids Christian senior Kobe Bufkin is officially a Michigan Wolverine.

“The letter is official and there is no going back," Bufkins said Wednesday after signing his national letter of intent to play basketball at the University of Michigan. "This is a very exciting time in my life, I have been working for this since third grade. It’s always been a dream of mine and I am proud of myself right now.”

Bufkin is a highly ranked player nationally and is part of the top ranked recruiting class in America.

“I’m looking forward to it," Bufkin said about playing with the other five players in the 2021 Wolverines recruiting class. "Looking forward to playing with all those guys I have played with most of them, mostly against them haven’t played with any of them yet but I am looking forward to playing with those guys.”

Before he heads to Ann Arbor, Bufkin has some big goals for his final year of high school.

“I’m hoping for the ultimate goal winning a state championship if we get that far and ultimately winning Mr. Basketball,” Bufkin said.

At Kalamazoo Central, Morasha Wiggins signed up to head down to Tabacco Road and play at the University of North Carolina.

“It kind of just means that it is official that it is finally true," Wiggins said. "It’s finally real, it’s just a dream come true and I can’t wait to get down there in June.”

This day is extra sweet for Wiggins after she suffered a knee injury that forced her to miss her to miss her junior season.

“If I’m being honest with you, I don’t know where I was going to be that was my biggest fear, I don’t know if I would make it through I didn’t know if schools would stick with me," Wiggins said about her injury. "But North Carolina was one of the main schools who just stayed by my side.”

Wiggins has more to accomplish as a Maroon Giant before getting to Chapel Hill.

“I just want to see my team succeed," Wiggins said. "I think that we could be really good this year and as a team, I think we could make it really far so that is my main goal just to make it far in the tournament.”
