The Red Wings beat the Kings 3-1 on Monday night. Jimmy Howard was fantastic, recording 42 saves on 43 shots.
Dennis Cholowski opened the scoring in the first period, and Detroit led 1-0 after 20 minutes. Frans Nielsen scored his fifth goal in six games to extend the lead to 2-0, and Dylan Larkin scored on a turnover late in the second.
