DETROIT — The Red Wings usually play on New Year's Eve. Instead, they reported for training camp on Thursday before hitting the ice on Friday.
"We want to prove people wrong," Anthony Mantha said. "Yes, we're in a rebuild mode, but we want to take it to the next step."
