The Red Wings have their new tandem in net.
Thomas Greiss agreed to a two-year deal with Detroit, taking Jimmy Howard's spot with Jonathan Bernier.
The 34-year-old, German-born goaltender played the last five seasons with the Islanders after starting his career with the Sharks, Coyotes, then Penguins.
Greiss had a 2.74 goals against average and .913 save percentage last season, going 16-9-4.
The contract is worth $7.2 million ($3.6 AAV), Elliotte Friedman reports. He added the deal is frontloaded, with a $2.8 million hit in 2020-21, $4.4 million hit in 2021-22.
