EAST LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan State football team kicks off their season on Friday night, and the 2019 year could be a special one for the Spartans.
MSU football head coach Mark Dantonio is entering his 13th season as head coach and with three wins, and he could pass Duffy Dougherrty and become the most-winning coach in MSU history.
He spoke about that at a press conference at Spartan Stadium Tuesday.
"I think that's what you get when you have continuity in the program then you get opportunities like this coming. We came here with an opportunity to make a mark and that's what we are trying to do. I think we've been very successful in this decade. It's a sense of accomplishment for everyone it's not just one person," Dantonio said.
Dantonio sits at 107 wins for his career and number 108 should come Friday night when the Tulsa Golden Hurricane come to town.
The Spartans have three straight home games to open up the year.
Friday's game kicks off at 7 p.m.
