Graduation this weekend at Michigan State University

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State University, for one, will host commencement ceremonies for 7,497 graduates this weekend.

"There are 5,677 undergraduate degree candidates and 2,270 advanced degree candidates. The Eli Broad College of Business has the most undergraduate degree candidates with 1,010," said Kristen Parker of University Communications.

The schedule is like this:
- Undergraduate convocation will take place at 1 p.m. Friday at the Breslin Center
- Advanced degree ceremony will take place at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Breslin Center
- And, throughout the weekend, individual colleges will host commencement ceremonies, also taking place at Wharton Center and MSU Auditorium

Former Spartan quarterback Kirk Cousins, who currently plays with the Minnesota Vikings, will deliver the commencement address and receive an honorary doctorate of humanities at 1 PM. Also at the convocation, William Demmer, CEO of Demmer Holdings Inc., will receive an honorary doctorate of business.

The advanced degree ceremony will have Gov. Gretchen Whitmer addressing graduates and she will receive an honorary doctorate of laws. Also, Reimund Neugebauer, president of German research organization Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, will receive an honorary doctorate of engineering.

All ceremonies will be livestreamed.

If you are planning to attend, bags and purses are prohibited in the Breslin Center, as well as any food or beverage.

There will be some food available inside one hour prior to the start of the ceremonies, and during the first hour.
