A familiar face inside the Michigan State University Police Department will take over as chief next year.
Deputy Chief Kelly Roudebush has been chosen to lead the department, according to a press release from MSU. She starts on January 1, 2019.
Roudebush is a 24 year veteran of the MSU Police Department. She started as an officer in 1994.
Roudebush will succeed Chief Jim Dunlap, who retires December 31 after nearly a half century of service.
Roudebush will be the first woman to lead the MSU Police Department.
