The Paul Bunyan Trophy has some iron-clad company.

Olympia Entertainment introduced a new trophy for Michigan and Michigan State's hockey rivalry, slated the 'Duel in the D.'

Tom Wilson explained the 'Iron D Trophy' at its unveiling on Tuesday.

"It's 25 years of tradition," he said of the hockey battle between the two schools. "The one thing we didn't have was one thing to play for, other than the win."

The trophy took months to imagine and design, and the team released the following description:

A forged iron “D” sits at the center of the trophy to symbolize the city of Detroit, and the skyline of Hockeytown wraps around the base, including an image of the new Detroit Events Center sitting at the center. A large cup rests atop the trophy, while hockey sticks, a red glass puck and the logos of Michigan and Michigan State are featured along the sides of the trophy.

Michigan and Michigan State take the ice this Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Joe Louis Arena.
