Today's Forecast - Increasing cloud cover with impactful snow on the way

LANSING, Mich. — The forecast from FOX 47 Meteorologist Candace Monacelli: After a quiet Monday with perhaps a bit of sun in the mix for the morning, the afternoon and evening will bring thicker clouds and snow developing during the mid to late evening hours from south to north. A Winter Weather Advisory goes into place Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon for our communities along and south of I-96. Snow will become heavy at times early Tuesday morning leading to a general 2-5" for those around and south of I-96. Plan ahead to give yourself extra time on your Tuesday morning commute. The rest of the workweek looks quiet with partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies and chilly temps in the mid to upper 20s. Our next system to watch will arrive at some point late next Saturday into Sunday.

TODAY: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy, snow developing late day. Highs in the lower 30s. Northeast winds at 5-15 mph, breeziest through the afternoon.

TONIGHT: Snow develops late in the evening. Snow could be heavy at times overnight, especially around and south of I-96. Lows in the mid to upper 20s. Northeast winds at 10-15 mph.

TUESDAY: Snow showers continue. Highs near 30. Total accumulation is likely to be between 2-4" with locally higher amounts possible. Northeast to north winds at 10-15 mph.

WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny. Highs in the middle to upper 20s.

THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Highs in the middle to upper 20s.

FRIDAY: Partly cloudy. Highs in the upper 20s.
