LANSING, Mich. — Lansing Community College is set to host December graduation ceremonies.
The schedule is as follows:
69th Fire Academy graduation – 6:00-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, LCC West Campus, 5708 Cornerstone Drive. There are 10 students graduating, including two female students.
Police Academy – 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, LCC West Campus, 5708 Cornerstone Drive. There are 31 students graduating, including five female students.
Nurse Pinning Ceremony – 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, Dart Auditorium, 500 N. Capitol Ave.
LCC graduates from the Police and Fire Academy account for a majority of the region’s first responders, fire and police personnel.
The Nursing Program has been nationally accredited for more than 40 years. Three-quarters of all regional allied health professionals received their training at LCC.
LCC will present its first Florence Nightingale award honoring the 200th year of her birth in 2020. The first recipient of the award is Rebecca Carnahan. She has overcome insurmountable odds which include cancer diagnosis, chemo treatments, and having to step away from her classes, but still passing her exam to become an LPN. She will be honored at the RN ceremony at 1 p.m. with her fellow classmates whom she started with. She plans to return to school and complete her dream to become an RN in fall 2020. Carnahan is being honored for her determination and passion for nursing.
