LANSING, Mich. — Two upcoming events at Cooley Law School Stadium – the Capital Clash between Michigan and Michigan State on April 14th and the GLIAC Baseball Tournament from May 7th-10th – have been canceled in order to help contain the spread of COVID-19.
Minor League Baseball had announced Thursday that the 2020 regular season, affecting the Lansing Lugnuts, is delayed indefinitely.
“Though we had been greatly looking forward to hosting Michigan, Michigan State and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, this is far bigger than baseball,” said Lugnuts General Manager Tyler Parsons. “When the threat has passed, we look forward to welcoming baseball fans back to Cooley Law School Stadium.”
The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference released the following statement: “Effective immediately, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, in consultation with the Council of Presidents and athletic directors, has canceled all athletically-related activity through May 31, 2020. During this unprecedented world-wide fight against the COVID-19 threat, the GLIAC supports national and NCAA efforts to protect student-athletes, coaches, fans and communities.”
