JACKSON, Mich. — The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce would like to recognize the Dahlem Conservancy on their upcoming Ribbon Cutting on Friday, August 16. The event will be at 7117 S Jackson Rd, Jackson, MI 49201 from 12 P.M. to 1 P.M. The Ribbon Cutting will take place at 12:15 P.M. and attendees will enjoy a reception and light refreshments.
The Dahlem Conservancy will celebrate the completion of Phase 1 of the Dahlem 2020 Initiative. Phase 1 consisted of adding a new family friendly restroom for the public, installing a new dedicated restroom for the Little Acorn preschool students in their classroom, and modernizing the two existing restrooms. The cost of the project was $100,000 and was made possible in part by grants totaling $44,000 from the Pat and Phil Willis Foundation, Speckhard-Knight Foundation and the Addison P Cook III Foundation. The balance came from Dahlem’s operating fund demonstrating Dahlem’s belief and investment in the future.
R W Mercer Company was the general contractor for the project. Jason Covalle was the architect for the project. The electrical contractor was Hirst Electric Company, and the plumbing contractor was Barton Plumbing and Heating. All the contractors are from Jackson County.
“Phase 1 was driven by concern for the safety of our Little Acorn students and the comfort of our visitors. Our teachers no longer have to leave the classroom to guard the students on restroom breaks as they did when the students and public shared the same facilities. The restroom is outfitted with child friendly fixtures making restroom breaks easier on the students, teachers, and staff that have to clean them. We want Dahlem to be a destination of choice and for our visitors to enjoy their time at Dahlem. We are always looking for ways to enhance their experience at Dahlem. The new restroom upgrades will go a long way.” said Ben Dandrow, Executive Director of the Dahlem Conservancy.
