LANSING, Mich. — LCC is responding to a family’s request to send Valentine’s Day wishes to 104-year-old World War II veteran, Major Bill White. LCC is joining in Operation Valentine, a nationwide call to action to send cards to the Marine.

Major White is an avid scrapbooker, and this year, his family made a special request that has gone viral. They are asking that cards and letters be sent to Major White for Valentine’s Day to give him more memories to document.

Major White was an active Marine for 30 years and retired 55 years ago. A highly decorated hero, he received a Purple Heart for injuries at Iwo Jima in World War II, according to an interview with ABC News [lcc.us3.list-manage.com].

LCC students, faculty and staff will be signing the four foot tall card and we are inviting the local community to join us in sending well wishes and thanks to Major White. The card will be on display for signatures Feb. 3-5 in the Gannon Building Commons, 411 North Grand Avenue, and Feb. 6-7 at LCC West Campus, 5708 Cornerstone Drive. The college will then mail the card to Major White with a letter of gratitude from our Office of Veteran and Military Affairs.
