LANSING, Mich. — It has been less than 30 days since LCC’s Human Resources Executive Director Ann Kroneman retired and James A. Mitchell, Jr. became the new Human Resources Executive Director at LCC.
Mitchell is highly respected and lauded for his extensive human resources expertise. He brings to his new role more than 40 years of experience as a human resources professional in both the private and public sectors. Mitchell began his career as a labor relations representative for General Motors, including 11 years as the Personnel Director of the GM Lansing Stamping Plant (Plant 3). Prior to being named HR Executive Director at LCC, he served as the college’s Director of Labor and Employee Relations for the last 12 years.
“The opportunity to serve employees and students of this great institution, in this role, is a high privilege and distinct honor,” said Mitchell.
He is a member of the Michigan Public Employer Labor Relations Association Board of Directors and the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Lansing Alumni Chapter. He also serves as a mentor in the Faith Fellowship Baptist Church Eastside Community Action Center after-school program, and is a member, trustee and Sunday school teacher at the West Lansing Church of God.
Mitchell holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Administration from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University), and an MBA from Youngstown State University.
