LANSING, Mich. — It’s not always easy to remember someone’s birthday, but it’s safe to say that Elle Dingey won’t have that problem as she grows up.
Elle was welcomed to the world by her parents, Sarah and Josh, at McLaren Greater Lansing on February 2, 2020, or 02/02/2020. That number is palindrome, which means it reads the same backward and forward—just like the name Elle.
02/02/2020 isn’t just an interesting number, it’s also incredibly rare. In fact, a full 8-digit palindrome date hasn’t happened in more than 900 years. Needless to say, the numbers added up to something special for Elle’s parents.
“Once we found out we were going to be induced we thought it would be fun to aim for Sunday since it was a special day,” said Sarah. “Not only was it Groundhog Day, but it was also the day of the Super Bowl and it was a palindrome date.”
The numbers played a role in Elle’s name too. “Since we did have her on a palindrome day, we thought we would give her a name to match,” said Sarah.
Elle was born at 6:54 p.m., weighing 8.1 pounds and measuring 21.5 inches long. Her family is back home and grateful for the outstanding care they received at McLaren Greater Lansing.
“All of the staff who took care of us were so compassionate and knowledgeable,” said Sarah. “We couldn’t have asked for a better experience at McLaren Greater Lansing’s birthing center, and we’re thrilled that Elle is a very happy and healthy baby.”
