Local Modern Woodmen members to honor hometown hero

LANSING, Mich. — Local volunteer Ingham County Sheriff's Department, Ingham County, will soon be recognized for countless hours of service to the community.

On 9/17/19, local Modern Woodmen of America members will honor them as a hometown hero. The event will take place at Ingham County Sheriff's Department, Mason MI, beginning at 5:30pm.

Officers will be recognized through Modern Woodmen's Hometown Hero Program for all of their hard work an dedication to our county.

As part of the Hometown Hero Program, members of the Okemos, Holt, and Lansing Modern Woodmen chapters will present the officers with a certificate and a $300 award grant to be donated to the charitable organization of the honoree's choice. The Sheriff has chosen The K-9 group and Victom's Addivicates to receive the donation.

"The Hometown Hero Program allows us to thank those who give back to the community while encouraging others to volunteer," says Jess Austin, local Modern Woodmen volunteer leader.

Coordinated by local Modern Woodmen members, the fraternal financial services organization's Summit chapters, chapters and yourh service clubs provide opporutnities for members to take part in social and educational activities and volunteer projects to meet local needs.
