Thousands of people are coming together today for the 21st annual Kick Butts Day, including local students who will be meeting at the state Capitol this afternoon, organized by the campaign Tobacco Free Kids.
Kick Butts Day aims to help young people turn the tables on tobacco companies that prey on kids to start smoking early.
The president of the organization says tobacco products are advertised to appeal to the younger generation with bright colors and thousands of sweet flavors.
The campaign for Tobacco Free Kids has urged the Food and Drug Administration to take strong action against this kind of advertising.
