LANSING, Mich. — Maner Costerisan was recently named one of Accounting Today’s Best Accounting Firms to Work For in 2020. The 100 accounting firms recognized with the honor were chosen as a part of a nationwide search by Accounting Today in partnership with Best Companies Group for creating a quality workplace for employees, as well as benefiting the economy, their workforce and business. Maner Costerisan has been named to the list for five consecutive years.

Firms from across the United States entered the two-part survey process to determine Accounting Today’s Best Accounting Firms to Work For. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. This was worth approximately a quarter of the total evaluation. The second part of the process, worth 75% of the total evaluation, consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. Combined scores determined the top firms and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process, analyzed the data and determined the final ranking.
“The firms on this list represent the best workplaces in the accounting profession,” said Accounting Today Editor-in-Chief Daniel Hood. “They are outstanding places to build a career.”
In addition to being honored as a leading place to work, Maner Costerisan has strengthened its team with the managerial promotion of Tara Brynn-Young Drost and the hiring of two new employees in the audit department.
“Tara is a highly-skilled worker that has shown great leadership in the tax department during her time at the firm,” Stevens said. “We are confident she will be an effective mentor for our newer employees and will continue to set a high standard for client work and customer service in her new position.”
Drost joined Maner Costerisan in 2016 as an associate in the tax department. In her new role, she will mainly work in the nonprofit niche, assisting charitable and other not-for-profit organizations with compliance filings and financial planning strategic consultations. Drost is a certified public accountant (CPA) and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA). She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and psychology and a master’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University.
In addition, Maner Costerisan also welcomed the following individuals to the team:
Matt Candela is an associate in the audit department. Prior to joining Maner Costerisan, Candela spent two-and-a-half years at Seber Tans PLC where he was a staff auditor. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration accountancy from Western Michigan University.
Caleb Grey Samborski is an associate in the audit department. Before joining the firm, Samborski was an auditor for the state of Michigan at the Michigan Gaming Control Board. He is a CPA, a certified fraud examiner and is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and MICPA. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accountancy/computer information systems from Ferris State University and a master’s in accountancy with a focus on internal audit/fraud investigation from Davenport University.
