Michigan hosts Adoption Day

More than 100 foster children will be officially bonded with their forever families on Tuesday.

It's Adoption Day in courtrooms across Michigan, just two days before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Michigan has thousands of children in the foster care system waiting for permanent homes.

The Michigan Supreme Court is hosting Adoption Day at the Hall of Justice in downtown Lansing.

Five of the justices will be among those banging the gavel to finalize adoptions.

"That child finally has permanency and that is the best feeling in the world, because I know that those children are always going to have a place to call home."

Most children available for adoption, do qualify for adoption assistance. Many of them also receive ongoing support subsidies.
