MSU Rugby partners with Gatorade to put on largest ever stand-alone college rugby event

Today, Gatorade officially confirmed their involvement with the UofM vs. MSU rivalry rugby match next month. The Battle for the Mitten event has sparked a great deal of interest and intrigue throughout sports-focused brands for the past six months and Gatorade closed on the opportunity to help bring the sport of rugby closer to the forefront of the public eye.

Battle for the Mitten is set to take place Friday, October 19 at 7pm, the night before the UofM vs. MSU football game at Spartan stadium in East Lansing. Both games will pit the rivals against one another in a gritty grudge match that should be thrilling to watch with one big difference: Friday night’s game will be played without pads.

Josh Ressio, President of MSU Rugby and organizer of the Battle for the Mitten event, was pleased to discuss:

The partnership between Gatorade and MSU Rugby gives a new perspective to the possibilities provided by clubs sports and there are discussions of growing this partnership involvement in years to come.

Battle for the Mitten presented by Gatorade will take place Friday, October 19, 2018. General admission tickets start at $10, VIP with prime viewing starts at $20, Clubhouse and Pepsi Porch tickets start at $35 and come with an all-you-can-eat buffet and free soft drinks.
