LANSING, Mich. — The PNC Foundation has awarded a $30,000 grant to YMCA of Metropolitan Lansing to support the Y’s Healthy Living Mobile Kitchen Feeding and Financial Literacy programs. The PNC Foundation grant will support family feeding at seven mobile locations throughout the greater Lansing area, Monday through Friday, with packages of food going to families’s homes on Saturday and Sunday.
Since the closure of schools March 16, 2020, more than 57,000 meals have been served to families through the Y’s mobile kitchen, in collaboration with the Lansing School District and Sodexo Magic.
According to YMCA President and CEO Jeff Scheibel, “The YMCA of Metropolitan Lansing is incredibly proud of our partnership with PNC. They have supported the Y’s childcare programs through their Grow Up Great program, and most recently have assisted elementary through high school students and their families with financial literacy programming. We are pleased to have their support as we feed those who need us the most during this challenging public health crisis and resulting time of economic instability.”
“All of us at PNC are proud to support the YMCA of Metropolitan Lansing’s efforts to provide nutritious food and financial literacy assistance to local families during this challenging time,” said Tim Salisbury, PNC regional president for Mid-Michigan. “Now more than ever, organizations such as the Y are needed to help families meet essential needs due to the COVID-19 crisis.”
