BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Reptile Weekend returns to Binder Park Zoo on Saturday, August 3 and Sunday, August 4. Whether you’re a reptile enthusiast or simply have a curiosity about these fascinating creatures, you’re invited to experience one of the largest events of its kind in the state. It’s where visitors can see over 100 “guest” turtles, geckos, snakes, invertebrates and many others.

This popular event offers a unique opportunity to see critter encounters and hear presentations about these often misunderstood classes of animals. Knowledgeable reptile keepers will share facts, characteristics and habits of creatures that many people perceive as mysterious and elusive. Special guest vendors this year include Sassquash Exotic Pets, Suzy's Nature Studies, Handmade Herps, Pangea Reptile, Muxlow Exotics, Josh's Frogs, A'lotl Bit Crazy Axolotls, SRK Reptiles, Preuss Pets, Savings Scales Reptile Rescue of Michigan and the Michigan State Herpetology Club.

Kalamazoo Nature Center will also be on hand to share bio-facts and information about native reptiles and ecosystems. Reptile Weekend is a two-day event geared toward guests of all ages with the goal of dispelling the myths and fears that people often have about snakes, salamanders, frogs and others, to be replaced with respect and understanding of animals species that play important roles in the environment.
