OLIVET, Mich. — Shannon Cohen, founder and principal of Shannon Cohen, Inc. and award-winning industry leader and sought-after strategist, innovator and inspirational leader, will present at Olivet College on March 4 at 1-2 p.m. The presentation is part of the Cultivating Women Leaders Speaker Series, a program of the Olivet College Women’s Leadership Institute (WLI). The topic of Cohen’s presentation is emotional intelligence, aimed at personal and professional development for high school and college students. The event is free.
The series is open to all high school students, parents, teachers, counselors or other administrators, as well as the Olivet College community. The presentation will be held in Mott Auditorium, inside the Mott Academic Building at Olivet College, 400 East St., Olivet, Michigan, 49076. Registration is available at www.olivetcollege.edu/cwl.
High school students are also invited to register for a WLI Visit Event in conjunction with Cohen’s presentation. This allows students to experience a traditional campus visit shaped around the WLI, in addition to attending the Cultivating Women Leaders Speaker Series presentation.

Cohen is passionate about empowering emerging and existing leaders to be transformative in the communities they serve. Her wide range of work includes serving as an adjunct faculty member for the College of Community and Public Service and the School of Public, Nonprofit and Health Administration at Grand Valley State University; a W.K. Kellogg Foundation Community Leadership Network Fellowship alumnus and Encore Innovation Fellow alumnus of the Grand Rapids Community Foundation; founder of the “Tough Skin, Soft Heart” movement, aimed at empowering today’s overextended leaders; and co-founder of “Sisters Who Lead,” a movement designed to advance women of color to executive leadership positions.
