Construction on the new Dream Depot playground in the Grand Ledge district gets underway in less than a week.
The Wacousta Elementary community is putting out a call for help.
Just like the first Dream Depot, members of the community are totally assembling this structure. From sorting and soaping screws to pulling out the power tools, this playground will be built entirely by volunteers.
Construction begins Wednesday, September 28th, and Wacousta is in serious need of volunteers.
Over a year ago, students and parents learned the beloved "Dream Depot" playground would have to be torn down because of safety issues.
Now during recess, kids don't have any playground to use.
Everyone at Wacousta has been pitching in and fundraising to get a brand new playground in place, and soon that will be a reality.
Volunteers will start building the Dream Depot 2.0 at the Elementary on Wednesday, and continue through Sunday, October 2nd. They will work from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. everyday.
Volunteers can work whenever they are available.
There are jobs for everyone, for those comfortable with power tools, to the more construction shy.
The team is serving up lunch, dinner and snacks everyday for volunteers, and childcare is available.
