CARSON CITY, Mich. — Compassion, advocate, respectful and dedicated are all words used to describe Sparrow Carson’s 2020 Nurse of the Year, Jessica Heleski, RN.
Heleski received multiple nominations and was recognized for educating her colleagues on Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) intervention and data collection. Her nomination noted that Heleski exemplifies what it is to deliver kind, compassionate care. With each interaction she has, people feel cared for, valued and welcome by her.
“We are extremely honored to have the caliber of nursing excellence we have here at Sparrow Carson. The task of choosing just one nurse each year to be recognized is always difficult. The five nurses nominated portray knowledge, dedication and compassion, and advocate for their patients each and every shift and I’m proud to have them and all Sparrow Carson’s Nurses as part of our team,” said interim Chief Nursing Officer Monte Malek, MSN, RN, FNP-BC.
As a recipient of the 2020 Nurse of the Year award, Heleski received a certificate, a stethoscope engraved with her name, a Sparrow bag of goodies, and large bouquet of flowers. Nominees for the 2020 Nurse of the Year also included Holly Hnetynka BSN, RN; Tabitha Keiffer MSN, RN; Jeremy Steere, RN; and Rachael Zeigler RN.
