CARSON CITY, Mich. — Infusion and Chemotherapy Center Nurse Kelly Husted, RN, has been recognized as Sparrow Carson Hospital’s second DAISY Award winner of 2019 for extraordinary Nursing care.
Kelly was nominated by two Patients for the wonderful care she’s provided to them. One Patient who receives treatment every eight weeks says Kelly always makes her comfortable and is attentive to her.
"She truly is a God-sent angel,” the Patient said. “I will have to have these treatments for the rest of my life and I'm glad to come here. Thank you from bottom of our hearts for the care you give to your Patients. It does not go unnoticed."
Another Patient wrote how Kelly cared for him as he suffered an allergic reaction.
Kelly has been a Nurse at Sparrow Carson since 1995. She spent 18 years in the Obstetrics Department and five in the Infusion and Chemotherapy Center. Outside the hospital, she enjoys time at the cabin she shares with her husband and their two kids, two grandkids, and three German Shepherds.
Sparrow Carson Hospital would like to congratulate Kelly for representing the extraordinary qualities that help our hospital provide quality, compassionate care to everyone, every time.
The DAISY Foundation was established in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia (ITP) at age 33. DAISY is an acronym that stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. During Pat’s eight-week hospitalization, his family was awestruck by the care and compassion his Nurses provided not only to Pat but to everyone in his family. The Foundation was created in Pat’s memory to recognize extraordinary Nurses for the enormous difference they make in the lives of their Patients every day.
