CARSON CITY, Mich. — Sparrow Medical Group OB/GYN Carson Physician Michelle Becher, D.O., was recently recognized for an extraordinary milestone: performing 1,000 daVinci Surgical System procedures at Sparrow Carson Hospital.
Dr. Becher is one of a handful of surgeons in Michigan to reach the milestone, and the number of lives positively impacted by her surgical talents with the use of the system is astounding.
The daVinci Surgical System is a state-of-the-art technology, often referred to as a robot, that allows surgical Physicians to perform complex procedures through just a few tiny openings. The Patient benefits of having a surgical procedure with daVinci include significantly less pain, less risk of infection, shorter hospital stays, less blood loss, minimal scarring, and quicker recovery time so they can return to normal activities sooner.
“I think why I fell in love with the concept of daVinci was for the Patient outcomes. That’s what we all want if we have to incur surgery: to get back to our life more quickly,” Dr. Becher says.
A celebration for Dr. Becher was attended by Caregivers from Sparrow Carson Surgical Services and from Sparrow Medical Group OB/GYN Carson, as well as members of Sparrow Carson and Sparrow Health System Administration. Michael Rich, Director of Regional Practices, presented Dr. Becher with her award and congratulated her on the high-quality care and Patient outcomes of her surgeries.
During the celebration, Dr. Becher thanked the Sparrow Carson Surgical Services team not only for their hard work, but also for their dedication to the health and well-being of the community. She also thanked her team at SMG OB/GYN Carson for the support they provide to her Patients. Dr. Becher was born and raised in the Carson City area and has a passion for the health of her Patients and the community.
