LANSING, Mich. — Care to share your spare hair? The Sparrow Children’s Center is asking everyone to share their hair because we’re cutting for a cause. In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we’re holding the fifth annual Hair-a-Thon to benefit Michigan-based organizations that provide free wigs for children and adolescents who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment or other causes. Last year the community donated over 850 ponytails and braids. Stylists will be on hand to take donations of eight inches or more of clean, good condition hair and there is free parking. We expect a large turnout, including an appearance by some hair recipients, and many emotional stories. There will be strong video opportunities.

Where: NEW LOCATION in the 3rd Floor lobby, Sparrow Plaza Building (Herbert-Herman Cancer Center), 1140 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing. Free parking available in Ramp B.

When: Saturday, Sept. 21, 9 a.m. to noon
