ST. JOHNS, Mich. — After a long career full of achievement, Sparrow Clinton Hospital President Ed Bruun retired this week.

Bruun was honored by Caregivers at a reception at the hospital that he led for 15 years. Overall, he worked for Sparrow for nearly 25 years. He announced his retirement plans in July.

Under Bruun’s leadership, Sparrow Clinton moved from a small, struggling hospital to a growing Critical Access Hospital with nationally recognized Patient, Physician, and Caregiver satisfaction scores. Among the achievements during his tenure were construction of a new Emergency Services Department partially funded by millions of dollars in contributions from the community and achieving Pathway to Excellence certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Beth Ann Daugherty, Sparrow Clinton’s Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care Services, has been named Acting Hospital Administrative Officer while plans are made to choose Bruun’s successor.
