Sparrow names new Chief of Staff

LANSING, Mich. — Sparrow is pleased to welcome Robin DeMuth, M.D., as its new Chief of Medical Staff for a two-year term. Her appointment began Jan. 1.

“My interest in being chief of staff is really about trying to improve our connections with each other, as taking care of Patients is such the team sport,” Dr. DeMuth said. “One of the things we’ve gotten into talking about at Sparrow is physician wellness and how tied wellness is in terms of people being engaged well with their Patients and being their best selves. I think that will be an important focus over the next two years.”

In her new role, Dr. DeMuth will represent and communicate the views, policies, concerns and needs of Sparrow’s approximately 1,300 Medical Staff members while working with Sparrow Leadership to ensure quality, compassionate care for all Patients.

Dr. DeMuth is a Family Medicine Physician who serves on the E.W. Sparrow Hospital Board of Directors and has been or is currently a member of numerous Sparrow Physician committees. She has served as Chair of the Sparrow Family Medicine Department, and is Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Assistant Dean for Clinical Experiences at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine (CHM). She received her medical degree from MSU CHM and her bachelor’s degree from Rice University in Houston, Texas.

She takes over for previous Chief of Medical Staff Candace Metcalf, D.O. Sparrow sincerely thanks Dr. Metcalf for her leadership and service to our Medical Staff. We are grateful for her guidance.

Lakeeya Tucker, D.O., was elected to serve as Chief of Staff-Elect during Dr. DeMuth’s term.

Dr. Tucker is an OB/GYN who has practiced at Alliance Obstetrics & Gynecology in East Lansing for 17 years. In addition to being actively involved in many Sparrow projects, she is a clinical associate professor for the MSU College of Human Medicine and has been active in numerous community service projects and organizations.

She is excited to bring her experience as a private practice provider and her collaboration with many others throughout the region to her position as Chief of Staff-Elect. She will succeed Dr. DeMuth when her term as Chief of Staff ends in two years.
