LANSING, Mich. — What: A community leader will be recognized with the 2019 Sparrow Founders’ Award, Sparrow’s highest honor. The award is given to a Volunteer, community member, retired Caregiver or Physician who has made a positive impact on the health of the mid-Michigan region through their involvement with Sparrow. Founders’ Day honors the spirit of our founders, the 114 charter members of the Women’s Hospital Association. These women opened the hospital’s doors on March 18, 1896, and the Founders’ Day celebration is held on or about this date to remember their vision and dedication. Past recipients of the Founders’ Award include the late Michigan State University hockey coach Ron Mason, business leaders Dick Iding and Alton and Janice Granger, and last year’s winner, James Butler III. This year’s recipient and hospital leaders will be available for interviews following a brief ceremony.

Where: Atrium of the Gathering Place at Sparrow, Sparrow Hospital, 1215 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing.

When: Tuesday, March 12, reception starts at 3 p.m., program begins at 3:30 p.m.
